Application Overview
QUEENDOM’s Infrared LED portfolio enables advanced night vision, security surveillance, and biometric sensing applications across the near-infrared (NIR) and short-wave infrared (SWIR) spectrum. The 850nm and 940nm NIR devices are optimized for silicon CMOS and CCD camera sensors, providing covert illumination for security cameras without the visible red glow that reveals camera positions. The 940nm wavelength is particularly valuable for covert surveillance as it is nearly invisible to human eyes, while 850nm offers 30-40% higher camera sensitivity for applications where slight visibility is acceptable. For next-generation sensing, our SWIR devices at 1064nm, 1310nm, and 1550nm support LiDAR systems, fiber optic communication, and specialized machine vision applications that require atmospheric penetration or material discrimination capabilities. The ceramic submount packages provide superior thermal management for high-power pulse operations (up to 10W peak in 100ns pulses) required for time-of-flight LiDAR and gated imaging systems. For security applications, our IR LEDs feature integrated lenses (15°, 30°, 60°, 90°) that optimize irradiance distribution for specific camera fields of view, reducing wasted optical power and enabling longer illumination distances with lower electrical consumption.

Application Cases
City-Scale Security Camera Network
A major metropolitan police department upgraded 8,000 security cameras with our 940nm IR LED illuminators, achieving 150-meter night vision range with 30% lower power consumption than previous 850nm systems. The covert 940nm wavelength eliminated the telltale red glow that had allowed criminals to identify and avoid camera coverage. The integrated 30° lens matched the camera’s field of view with >95% optical efficiency, reducing the number of illuminators per intersection from 4 to 2. Annual energy savings exceeded $420,000 across the network.
Time-of-Flight LiDAR for Autonomous Vehicles
A Tier-1 automotive supplier integrated our 940nm pulsed IR LEDs into a solid-state LiDAR system for Level 3 autonomous driving. The 75W peak power with 5ns pulse width achieved 200-meter object detection with 10cm depth resolution. The ceramic package with integrated lens maintained beam divergence <0.3° across -40°C to +85°C automotive temperature range. The solid-state design (no scanning mirrors) achieved ASIL-B functional safety rating with MTBF >50,000 hours.
